“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
Luke 6:38
So, I’ve been blessed with some very precious gifts…and it’s not even my birthday nor Christmas.
I ask the Lord for something crazy…and He answered my request quite suddenly like this:

No, they’re not crazy!! (Well, we do have lots of crazy fun together if that counts.) My request had seemed crazy at the time I asked.
I asked God to bring someone into my life who I could love on with my own style, who would receive it gladly, and so I could give like He uniquely created me to. I asked Him to help me be effective within His Kingdom, to shine bright and be used…a vessel He could happily pour out of.
I guess all these requests could be considered selfish, except my desires were for more. I’ve lived long enough to know the most fulfilling things and times in life are when you’re doing what you were created for and meant to do.
As of last week, we celebrated our fourth week of being together. We began with a Bible study and a couple pizzas at church, now we meet in my home every week and eat, talk about life and study the Bible. Can I just say this is the most satisfying thing I’ve done in a long, long time. While I’m waving goodbye to them from my front porch, my heart is filled with gladness and overwhelmed by the magnitude of God’s goodness.
To watch the changes in these sweet, young ladies who have adopted me as their “church mom” has been so exciting. Every Bible study night, I listen and observe; it’s truly amazing. They’re slowly opening up like beautiful rose buds. (There truly are hungry people out there who are searching for “more” and are ready for changes in their lives.) As I’ve taught these lovelies, I’ve been so blessed to be taught too. They inspire me to push harder and dig a little deeper!
This last week I presented each of them with new books of the Bible tabs and a special card complete with a personal message of encouragement for each of them. (And “little bit” received a bag of sour gummies just for her.) While I didn’t intend for them to read the cards right at that moment, they did. When they were finished, they looked up at me with tears brimming in their eyes. Special moment! A God-wink! They were so touched that I truly listened to them and took them under my wing. I know it was actually God, but He graciously allowed me to be a part of showing them His true love. I’m so thankful!
My friend, the best feeling is giving expecting nothing in return. The best feeling is giving of yourself when you’re overflowing - and also when you’re tapping out the last few drops in your barrel. It truly is more blessed to give than receive , but I truly believe we can never give with a pure heart without receiving in return. It’s a God principle! Therefore, our barrel never really runs dry after all. God always makes sure I’m left filled up more than I could have asked for or expected.
Nothing compares to giving to the Lord and others - being His hands and feet is so satisfying.
So, whether I order a pizza, we share giant bowls of popcorn and M&M’s, or throw down on some good ole southern yumminess - complete with homemade, sourdough, dinner rolls, they enjoy it. No, I do believe they love it! We begin about seven o’clock and they usually don’t leave until about ten o’clock. And, way before then, I’ve maxed out my daily word count! It’s all great tho! We sit at the table together and talk about Jesus and life…
It’s THE BEST FEELING!!!
