Thankful for...

It’s Thanksgiving week and I’ve just been pondering the many things I’m thankful for. When you get right down to it, the list is endless, as it should be. God has been good to us, no matter what life has thrown our way.

From our precious loved ones we still hold physically in our arms, to the ones we can only hold in our heart; each has been given to us as a gift from the Lord to treasure and be thankful for. There are those souls who are completely alone in this world.

From our homes, which might seem to be Pinterest “perfect” to the ones in need of much repair; let us be thankful for a warm place and a roof over our heads. There are those who have nothing but the sky.

From high-end vehicles to seen-better-days clunkers; let us be thankful for transportation. There are those who have nothing but worn out shoes or maybe even move from here to there on nothing but dirty feet.

From clothing which costs way too much, to well worn hand-me-downs; let us be thankful that we are covered and warm; there are those without even that, you know?

From a fine Thanksgiving spread, to a bologna sandwich shared with family or friends; let us be thankful for nourishment; there are those in this world who are actually starving.

You see, no matter our status in life, we can and should be thankful for what we are blessed and gifted with. It might not be perfect, but it is what God has brought into our lives. It’s always easy to compare and to dream, but our reality very well might be someone else’s wildest, most wonderful dreams. How humbling!

How thankful would someone else be with the blessings we take for granted?

It’s just something to think about this week as we prepare for Thanksgiving day. Let us have a thankful heart for God’s many blessings in our life - both great and small. Treasure the gifts He’s given and never take one thing for granted. I know it’s easy to do, but it could all be gone in a single moment.

Let’s be thankful while we’re able! God has been better to us than He has to be.

Let’s celebrate this week, worship, and thank God for His faithfulness and goodness to us - every day. Let’s also thank those who are a part of our lives; we need each and every person or God wouldn’t have placed them there.

In everything, give thanks. Sure, it might could be better, but it could always be worse too.

I know it’s simple, but simple is good sometimes. Let’s choose thankfulness! Toward God and each other.

Happy Thanksgiving from my front porch to you~
