Holding On To Promises

I just received a reply text from a very dear friend, and it inspired me to have this impromptu writing session. I wanted to share, because we all need something to hold onto sometimes. Can I get a witness?

My husband and I have been happily married for going on 34 years. True story. I graduated in June 4 and married him on July 27. Why waste any time?! Yeah, so much for college…did I even have an idea of what I’d major in anyhow? I suppose I’ve majored in LIFE.

Anyhow, we began our family quickly and have always enjoyed and relied upon hand-me-downs. From clothes to appliances, you name it. God has always faithfully provided. We might not have always had exactly what we wanted, but we ALWAYS had what we needed.

We’ve lived in our current home for about a couple dozen years, we raised our children here, and now we’re enjoying our grands here. I imagine we’ll be here until, well, until the Lord moves us along I suppose. I guess you could say we are quite settled and satisfied with the life God has blessed us to make here.

Several years ago, we were prophesied over at church and part of the prophecy was that we’d “never want for anything.” OK, I said previously that God has faithfully supplied all our needs; I didn’t mention anything about Him giving me my wants too. Hello, don’t we all have wish lists?!

It didn’t happen immediately, but we continue to do what we know to do. Today, during my husband’s lunch break, a Lowes delivery truck pulled into my driveway with the brand new stove I picked out earlier this week. It’s shiny - with no scratches or cracks in the cooktop - it has a griddle, air fryer, bread proofing setting for my sourdough, and all the bells and whistles, including wifi which I’m going to have to learn more about. I have no clue!

After my husband got it installed and we got all the tape and plastic removed, it dawned on me - I currently have NO hand-me-down appliances to call my own, not even my vacuum cleaner.

I excitedly sent a picture along with a text to my dear friend to share my blessing. I included the words, “And hand me downs are a blessing too“. Her response included the words “Prophecy being fulfilled!” followed by several clapping emojis. Yes! Hand me downs are fine, but God’s promises are yay and amen, and always marvelously amazing. That’s just the way He operates - because He can. {Praise break!}

I share this testimony in hopes of encouraging you a bit today. Are there promises you’re waiting to see fulfilled? Hold onto your hope!

There are still a couple promises I’m still holding onto also which I’m ready to see come to pass, but I know God is faithful in all aspects. He cannot lie! What He has promised, He will do. For me, and for you too! Just wait on Him and expect it. If He’s promised it, and if we keep doing what He asks of us, He will pour out blessings which we can’t even begin to imagine.

Be encouraged today! I’m celebrating “part” of God’s promises to me and I’m holding onto hope that the rest- and best - is yet to come. I’m sure you’re holding onto some promises He’s made to you too. He is faithful!

Don’t give up your hope, my friend. If He did it for me, I know He’ll do it for you too. Hold onto those promises like you’re holding on for your life. I can’t wait to hear your testimony either!

Be blessed ~

Just a quick shout out to all those who blessed me with your gifts of hand-me-downs throughout the years. They were such blessings and I’m forever grateful!! I’m still not “too good” for them, just rejoicing in what the Lord has done in my life.
