“And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:8
Looking at a thorn in our flesh as a weakness or something to be ashamed of is neither kind or productive. This perspective only drags us further down than we might already be. Instead, maybe it would help to view these things as just a season of which we will come through in time. Imagine that through even this season, we are gaining invaluable ground and a resume to share with others down the road. The Bible says there is nothing new under the sun — we’re not the first to face our particular situation. Knowing this, we can also be assured that someone will cross our path in the future who will need our story. They’ll need us to testify of how God brought us out of or through our dilemmas.
Sure, it’s frustrating and embarrassing to feel so weak and needy at times, but this is precious training ground when put into the hands of God. What if we didn’t judge ourselves like others do and simply soaked it all up thinking of others who will need our stories in the future. My friend, they WILL cross our paths and need hope and encouragement. So, it CAN be a positive catalyst instead of something to hang our heads about because we should be doing better.
So what if there is an area in our lives which isn’t easily overcome, that’s ok. Let’s just keep walking and giving it to God - every day or hour if necessary. God is touched with the feelings of our infirmities and will carry us in our weaknesses. They don’t make Him love us any more or less. He is compassionate as much as He is mighty. He will use it, all of it, for our good because that’s the kind of Savior He is. Sure, He wants us to grow beyond our current status, but every time we get up again and keep on walking instead of quitting, we are growing. We don’t remain where we are!
So, my friend, whether it’s others looking down on us for being there again or maybe it’s us looking down and beating our own selves up, we deserve a break today. I’m not talking about winking at or excusing sin, that’s not okay. A lot of times our issues have nothing to do with sin at all, we simply live in a fallen world.
I was encouraged and prompted to share this after hearing a similar message earlier this week as I’ve been really struggling yet again. Our struggles are not who we are, they’re a result of living in a fallen world. We are so much more than our issues people! God can even use them! It’s ok!
I hope someone who is struggling to keep their head up and look at life for what it is will read this and be uplifted and encouraged to keep on. It’s not who you are, it’s life. Giving up or quitting isn’t necessary, or recommended, unless it’s doing so by casting our stuff at the feet of Jesus. He will carry you and I. Knowing that doesn’t make everything feel all better; what it does do is give us the things we need most during these moments: hope, faith and God-style joy right in the middle of our pain.
Be blessed and encouraged. Leave this post knowing that you aren’t alone. Also know, it won’t always be like this. We CAN grow and overcome - even if it looks like the same thing over and over. We WILL gain strength and wisdom through every episode we endure. God never wastes anything! Hold your head up and know God knows exactly where you’re at, keep walking with Him, living this life — waiting on the one to come.
It’s ok 🤗
