With My Little Eye

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Matthew 5:16

We took the grands for an overnight last weekend and treated them to one of our favorite places…Ingleside Village Pizza. Yes, please!! SO yummy! Anyhow, while we were waiting for our pie we played I Spy. The girls were so excited and were pretty observant too. We were enjoying our little game when I spotted the tiny picture stuck in behind a piece of window trim.

I spy with my little eye somebody taking a secret peek at you!

It took a few minutes before they finally found it, and they giggled with delight. However, today I’m thinking about the fact that there are always “somebody’s” taking a secret peek at you. They’re everywhere too!

First, the Lord always has His eye on us. Aren’t we thankful and in such need of that?

Our children watch us more than we realize at times. Young minds are so impressionable and the older ones are constantly watching to see if we’re living what we’re talking and whether we’re being consistent or if we’re wishy washy.

Our spouse watches.

Coworkers watch.

The cashier at the local eatery or shopping malls we frequent is watching.

Members of our church watch.

Strangers watch.

The enemy of our soul watches too.

So, since there are a lot of “somebody’s” watching us at any given moment…what do their little eyes see? That’s pretty thought provoking, isn’t it? Do we live a life that we wouldn’t mind people getting a sneak peek at? Are we consistent? Faithful? Steadfast? Do we represent the Lord well?

Just a little something to think about today. Next time you go out in public, be observant of all the people you see looking at you, all the people you make eye contact with, and those you never see doing so. Remember as you go throughout your days at home and work, what you do and say matters - even on the “bad hair” days.

We don’t live in isolation. Everything we do effects somebody else. Let’s do our best in this new year to make a positive impact. I don’t know about you but I want someone to spy with their little eye a lady living with conviction and perseverance, a godly woman living out her life as unto the Lord.

Today wasn’t a good day for me, and you’ll have those days too; but we must carry on knowing eyes are watching our responses and reactions at all times. Let them see the Lord working through us…shine bright and with consistency. Nobody likes a light that flickers…let the glory of the Lord shine through us for ALL the world to see.

God bless~
