Almost Home!

“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

1 Thessalonians 4:17

We’ve been on the road today, from Georgia to Alabama, then back again. Ten hours worth of drive time…plus traffic stalls and two pit stops at Bucee’s. We took our grand boy back to his mommy today - can I just say he wasn’t thrilled? (Insert a very teary-eyed Noni!)

As we crossed the Georgia line, I snapped this pic to send to Kyler. I’ll admit I suddenly became a little bit more alert and excited - both in the temporal and eternal.

Almost. Home.

I thought about crossing the “line” of my Heavenly home one day! An old song came to mind, “…I’ve never been this homesick before…” Talk about a relevant song for this moment.

I’m ready to get out of this vehicle at this point; I’m feeling kind of cramped up to be honest. Yet, I thought about how some days life can be similar and I’m left feeling a bit cramped within my soul. Don’t we long for some relief now and then? I’m reminded of some good news…

One day soon, we’ll cross that finish line and be home forevermore.

If you find yourself feeling a bit cramped and you’re ready to “get out of the car”, let me encourage both you (and myself) right now…we’re almost home. No matter how travel weary we might be at this point, know it won’t last always. There is hope and an end in sight! What a great and glorious day that will be indeed.

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

Revelation 21:4

My friend, we are almost home. Allow me to comfort us with these words. Everything you’re carrying will soon vanish, all the broken dreams you’ve given up on will no longer be a thing, the sickness you deal with will be over, constant struggles will be no more, and every tear and sorrow will be eliminated forever. No more forcing yourself to smile, no more wearing a mask to hide any pain; and joy, peace…oh, what true uninhibited joy and peace we will experience when we finally make it home. It will be worth it all! I know that sounds like an old cliche’, but it is truth. It is our hope!

If you’re tired and weary, broken, or if you’re in need of a break from pain or just life in general, or perhaps you’re sitting happily in the other end of the spectrum and everything is going swell and you find yourself on top of the world…no matter how it’s going, we’re all going to want to cross that line and reach for what we’ve been striving for all of our life. To be with the Lord! To make it home!

What exciting news!

Another song comes to mind “…I’ll make it home some day, I know I’ll make it… Don’t know how, but I’m going to make it. With the Lord as me Leader, My Guide and my Keeper…” Don’t know if I got all the words right but I hope you get the idea.

Get ready. Stay alert. The Heavenly finish line we cross will be through gates of pearl, which is way more exciting and beautiful than a huge, blue, sign flashing a big, juicy looking peach from the side of the highway. We’ll see Jesus face to face. What a day that will be! Unimaginable. Beyond our wildest imagination. Wonderful!

He is the reason for this season and will keep His promise to bring us Home.

Be encouraged. If you need to come back and read this post again later, do it. I usually have to go back and read them again to remind myself. This is me, standing on the side of life’s road with a sign in my hand…we’re gonna make it. Almost home!”

Yes, my dear friend, be encouraged and filled with tidings of great joy during this coming season. We’re almost home! It won’t be long now.

Hallelujah!
